Happy happy SPRING all! Sooo February brought some 70 degree weather. March brought a blizzard, but with it being the 1st day of Spring this girl got to garden! The warm weather in Ohio is coming... slowly, but surely. I'm ready for veggies and blooms!

With gardening, I dig, I get dirty, I sweat... you get the picture.

I've always had a farm of acne on my face from the pre-teen years to now. I've tried everything under the sun, but just like the sun bringing flowers, my face brings zits. Gross I know.

About a year and half ago, I decided to go au natural with the products I use and it has truly helped. Go ahead, flip your body products over and read the list of ingredients on the packaging. They’re chock full of chemicals and things you’re likely unfamiliar with and can’t pronounce huh? Sometimes less is more, and when it comes to our faces, the simpler the better.

During the gardening months especially, this homemade, dirt fighting, pore cleaning goddess is just what I need. A good exfoliator is what everyone should be doing 3x/week and this little number uses only 2 main ingredients!

Coconut Oil- acts as both an antibacterial and moisturizing substance.

Baking Soda- regulates the pH levels of our skin.

Check her out:

What you will need:

Bowl

Table Spoon

Melted Coconut Oil {microwave for about 20 seconds}

Baking Soda

Jar with a lid {I use a Mason jam jar}

What to do:

In a bowl add baking soda. Be sure to unclump any little balled up baking soda.

Add melted coconut oil

Mix together

Add to any jar with a lid you find around your house.

Put in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to harden a bit.

But how much you ask?

Sensitive Skin: Use a ratio of 2:1. So 2 parts coconut oil to 1 part baking soda. This will make it less scrubby creating a soft exfoliate.

"Normal" Skin: Use a ratio of 1:1. So use equal parts. This is a pretty good exfoliate.

Go the extra mile:

Add about 10 drops of essential oils!

These 3 are skin miracle workers:

Tea Tree, Lavender, Frankincense

PS you can use this mixture as a deodorant as well!
